Stay Positive

Being an extremely negative person who used to see only the bad aspects of everything, I felt a little ashamed of this title. On the other hand, this is meant to encourage myself to stay positive, especially when it comes to being a new parent.
Speaking of parenting, there are all kinds of discussions/news recently related to this controversial excerpt from Amy Chua’s new book. As a “victim” of really Chinese parenting, I wouldn’t do what Amy Chua did to my little K. Every child is an individual. There’s no one single method that works for everyone. What worked for my big sister gave me such a negative viewpoint of the world.
At least 4 weeks behind

Fruit flies like banana……yup…..as I said in the last post, I kind of lost track of my life. Plus….one of my camera batteries was not working properly and made taking pictures rather difficult….I got tons of excuses to be late. 😀 How late? Well, this hat was finished almost 4 weeks ago!

Simple basics

What is your favorite way to consume the yarns in your stash? I usually choose to make a scarf, either by crocheting or by knitting. I had this skein of blue sock yarn. After I realized I would not knit any socks in the close future, I cannot stop thinking of getting rid of it. I showed the yarn to Mr Y and offered to make a hat or whatsoever for him before this winter ends, but all my offers got turned down. Then, I would just knit a scarf with one of the very first stitches I’ve learned 10+ years ago. Surprisedly, Mr Y likes the scarf so much that claimed it as his scarf when it’s only half way finished and started wearing it immediately after I finished off. He was even reluctant to give it back to me for photograph. The picture above was taken when he was still in bed…… Continue Reading Simple basics…
Weekend “Entertainment”
April 14, 2008 at 12:05 am | Posted in All My WIP, Misc. | 1 CommentTags: construction set, knit, knitting, meccano, toy
I am so exhausted after a whole week going back and forth between two countries. This weekend has to be work-free! Therefore, I carried on with the project I started this week on the train. It is probably going to be my largest knitting project if I can finish it, but who knows how long it would takes. I am also not sure whether I will dare to wear it or not coz I don’t really like the color. 0.39 cent for 100g acrylic yarn is a little hard to resist.

Hair Story
March 13, 2008 at 9:27 pm | Posted in All Finished Crafts, Misc. | Leave a commentTags: black, China, hair, knit
It is relatively cheap to get a hair cut in China. I was so eager to have my hair cut right after we arrived that I didn’t do any researches on salons beforehand. I looked OK when the haircut was done, but my hair went wild one night after I washed it. I went to another hairdresser for help and was told the problem couldn’t be totally fixed right away without too much cutting. He straightened my hair to make me look much better. Now, almost one month of the haircut, I can see my hair going out of control again. That’s why I thought of making a headband. It’s very useful and convenient, especially when I just get out of the bed in the morning.

Neglecting the potential damage of XML tags cost me 3 hours of sleep last night. One trivial “<” has made at least a whole day of computation useless. Unfortunately, that’s how people learn. After all, XML is pretty interesting. It should be carefully handled, otherwise there would be unexpected lose. I guess it’s the same case for KnitML.

“The exams for this year” are finished, but I have been sort of trapped in a working-hard me and couldn’t get out of it immediately after the exams. We are going to another city to visit a friend tomorrow. I hope this would help. 😛
