One head and eight arms
March 26, 2011 at 10:38 am | Posted in All Finished Crafts, Craft - How-to's, Craft - Inspirations, Craft - Websites, Misc. | Leave a commentThere’s a Chinese idiom that says “three heads and six arms (三头六臂)”, usually used to describe unordinary people who are so good at multi-tasking. Three heads might be arbitrary, but extra hands are definitely useful. Imagine a pair of arms cuddling the baby, another pair cooking dinner and the other doing laundry. The more arms, the better!
Stay Positive

Being an extremely negative person who used to see only the bad aspects of everything, I felt a little ashamed of this title. On the other hand, this is meant to encourage myself to stay positive, especially when it comes to being a new parent.
Speaking of parenting, there are all kinds of discussions/news recently related to this controversial excerpt from Amy Chua’s new book. As a “victim” of really Chinese parenting, I wouldn’t do what Amy Chua did to my little K. Every child is an individual. There’s no one single method that works for everyone. What worked for my big sister gave me such a negative viewpoint of the world.
Belated greetings
January 15, 2010 at 3:56 pm | Posted in All Finished Crafts, Misc. | 3 CommentsTime flies extremely fast at the beginning of a new year. Half a month of the new decade has gone. I didn’t make any updates for so long. It might not be a good sign. 😛 Anyway, happy new year to everyone checking here regularly.

For Dr. D

It was the coldest week here since I moved here. It was quite an active week for me, partly because of Bec’s short visit to town. She came back for her final defense and left 2 days after. The defense was no doubt successful. Accordingly, she’s got a big title now. I cannot find any excuses not to prepare something for this important event. I couldn’t decided until the week is finally approaching, when I still had at least 3 potential projects in front of me, not mentioning the ones being withdrew earlier. (Bec, I assure you that you don’t want to know what kind of weird things used to pop up in my mind.) Then, time constraint became an issue, which made the selection much simpler. *shy*Anyway, congratulations, Bec!

Moo is Random
September 23, 2009 at 10:40 am | Posted in Craft - Misc, Misc. | Leave a commentTags: medium, minicard, moo
when Mr Y and I was waiting at the clinic this morning, I had my favorite Ai Akikusa(秋草愛)‘s book with me.
The little bookmark was soon revealed and then the following conversation started:
Y> Ah, it’s a moo card!
T> Hmm…..no, that’s my handmade bookmark.
Y> Yeah, but you’ve got “Moo” on the card.
T> Oh, yes, that’s cow “moo”.
Y> And, it’s almost the same size as your moo cards.
T> Oh, yeah…..but…..
Y> Maybe a little longer….did you get inspiration from those moo cards?
T> I don’t think so. It was way back before our first move, more than 3 years ago. It should be older than moo.com…..
Y> So, did you dream about it? Like Allison in Medium?
T> ………
It’s nice to take a look at some old projects, but I really didn’t expect the conversation going this way. Now I am totally aware that there is a so-called “TV-kid” close by. 😛
Short update

Here’s the picture of the scrunchie I finished …… hmm …… in July. It could be a bad sigh that I am getting lazier and lazier and I barely have new things to show, but it could also be a good sign of a possible return. We’ll see.
p.s. I have got my first moo mini-cards and I love them. 🙂

When computer linguists meet crafters…..

Several friends gathered in our apartment last night for a hot-pot party that had been scheduled for months. After all the stomachs are all hopefully filled, we served some tea and involuntarily I showed the friends the crafts on my shelf. Jerry’s donkey is clearly the most popular. 😀
