It’s December and it’s my “birth-month”. I’ve started counting down by reminding Mr. Y every two hours. 😀 I’m also giving hints to him for the gifts, but I am not sure how well it would work. I showed a Kawasaki rose to him and ask whether he would make 99 such roses for my birthday. Unfortunately, the request ended up Mr. Y bargaining. According to him, it doesn’t seem plausible even to make more than one rose. Why am I not surprised at all? =,=
Kawasaki rose is among the most popular designs in the origami world. Actually, there are at least two rose designs by Toshikazu Kawasaki in his book 折り紙夢WORLD 花と動物編. I folded the first one years ago. It wasn’t so pleasant for some unknown reasons that I basically stop trying. The second design is a little more complicated than the first one, but it results in much more natural roses, as shown in the cover of the book. Here provides a more detailed step-by-step instruction of this rose.

Beautiful rose, seems complicated though. I’m currently trying to wrap my head around modular folding, so far I haven’t been able to put the pieces together properly. Until I get that right I won’t be trying this. But it does look gorgeous.
I hope you get some nice gifts and that Mr. Y will suprise you with something great!
