Oh, Crab!

I was in the kitchen when Mr Y came back from work yesterday evening. As Mandarin is the “official” language in our apartment, I was a little surprise to hear Mr Y’s first words were in English: “oh, crap!” I rushed out of the kitchen to see what’s wrong and soon realized what he said was “oh, crab!” because he saw the crab I made during the day occupying the place for his laptop.

Obviously, the crab is still no in a good shape. I just tried to consume some left-over magazine strips. The strips I used were not long enough so that one of the claws is shorter than the other. In fact, both claws should be a little bigger. The other legs don’t look so right either. Anyhow, Mr Y can recognize it without any hints, so I consider this project not a failure. 😛 This model is one of the traditional ones for leaf weaving. I will certainly try some more with paper in the future. I am also thinking of some Chinese paintings, if I can find necessary materials 😛

  1. I just found your blog and think you are brilliant. I hope you don’t mind that I put the picture of the water bottle yarn holder with a link to your site on my blog. Keep up the great work and funny stories.

  2. I love all your woven work, and I’m just envious of your skill. I’d love instructions for how you made that crab if you have them. It looks so cute and that is such an awesome way to recycle old magazines, oh and sorry for asking for so much but if you have any links to weaving sites could you please recommend them? If there were anything from my site you have a question about I’d be really happy to answer them, and again awesome weaving work and all your other crafts are adorable.
