A belated gift

I always want to make something for Mr. Y’s birthday, but I didn’t manage to do so in last two years. I just postponed my plan to the next event, e.g. Christmas, New Year, Chinese New Year, Valentine’s day….our anniversary….and his next birthday, then the loop goes over again. In other words, I didn’t make him any gifts in quite a long time. When I went through my sketchbook yesterday, I “discovered” my plan for his last birthday and decided to carry it out. Still, it is late either for his birthday or for the new year.
This is the semi-cursive version of one of the characters in my name. The character is the simplest one in terms of writing complexity among all the characters in his name and my name. Even though, it still takes a lot of effort to get it right. Frankly speaking, the shape is not what I actually want so that it appears a little ambiguous: many people may recognize this as some other characters, such as 星 and 是, as the character is not so common in everyday use except for people’s name.
It’s my first time to work with silver coated cooper wire. I should have covered my plier with something soft before working on the wire. The problem only rose at the lower part of the character, where it becomes really curly. I really don’t want to start over again after the shape looks nice enough to me and to Mr. Y. Here’s my excuse: the silver coat will get off sooner or later, so why bother? 😛
