Hello from the North

We arrived the old city before midnight. The B&B is very comfortable. The distance from the railway station to the guesthouse seems to be much longer than we expected….:-D

The weather is nice today. I got up very early. Chubbey has already started stitching. 😉 Here is a snapshot of the WIP.

Allez-y

Busy, busy, busy…..

The only craft project I managed to start/finish this week is a small leaf. The rose was so small that few people noticed it on my backsack. Hopefully, its new leaf help “self-promoting” a little bit. 😀 The “allez-y” pin was from an old friend who had left the French-speaking city also.

Woven green

Last week was a little over-stressed so that I couldn’t sleep last night when the stress was finally gone. 😦 I got out of bed and sat in front of my laptop. Staring at the screen, I had no will to surf internet at all. After doodling my idea book for a few min, I decided to make something simpler.

Bunnies’ weekend

April 6, 2007 at 11:55 am | Posted in Reading | 1 Comment

Bunnies, eggs and chickens have been the dominant craft topics for last few weeks. I am never a bunny-lover. I would rather sit down and read the famous book “Guess How Much I Love You” illustrated by Anita Jeram again only if I have time. Unfortunately, I still have to work on this Easter Friday, with another 4 poor colleagues.

Clover Bookmark Revisited

April 5, 2007 at 3:01 pm | Posted in Craft - How-to's | 3 Comments

I was too busy for a lot of things and have started feeling guilty for many people…….:-( I promised Ashley of my clover bookmark pattern a while ago, but I didn’t manage to do it in the last few weeks. Since my program is still running hard to get some results, I think I can spare some time to draw a mini diagram. And, here we are.

In the diagram, there is only 1/4 of the clover, which is a heart-shape. There are totally 5 rounds in this pattern. The first round will be 12dc(i.e.3ch+11dc) in a circle. And the second round is inc on every stitch, thus 24 dc. The last three rounds are a little tricky. I’ve marked the order of stitches with green, red and blue lines respectively.

R1: ch3, dc in the 3 ch from hook, dc another 10 times
R2: (2dc in 1 x 12) =24 dc
R3: (sl st x2, ch 3, 2dc in 1 x2, ch 3, sl st x2) 4 times
R4: (sl st, ch 3, sc, ch 3, 2dc in 1 x4, ch 3, sc, ch3, sl st) 4 times
R5: (ch 3, sc, ch 3, sc, ch 1, hdc, dc, tr x2, dc, sc x2, dc, tr x2, dc, hdc, ch 1, sc, ch3, sc, ch3) 4times
R6: ch 30 to make the fringe

I hope it is still understandable. 😛

Virtual tour to craft shows

I’ve never been in a craft show/exhibit of any kind. Thanks to the Internet, we can look around different craft shows via pictures.

Here are two different doll shows in two countries.

Chinese Blessing

April 3, 2007 at 10:01 am | Posted in All Finished Crafts, Craft - Websites | Leave a comment

My thumb hurts after I spent almost 4 hours yesterday cutting this little kid. Fortunately, it looks much better than the pig I cut back in January. And, red is indeed a Chinese color.  🙂

Speaking of Chinese, I would like to introduce a new flickr group Chinese Crafts and Toys to you. You can find a lot of traditional Chinese crafts and toys in the pool. Some of them actually remind me of my joyful childhood.  Anyone is welcomed to join and share.:-)

April Fool with a Big Mouth

April 1, 2007 at 10:27 am | Posted in All Finished Crafts, Craft - People | 1 Comment

Hey, happy April fools’ day! I hope you enjoy today. 😀 Don’t miss the special entry of MakeZine.

And, I made something for April fools’ day. As you know, chatting, from mouth to mouth or via internet and sms, is best way to spread rumours/gossips. In Chinese, “big mouth(大嘴巴)” is used to describe those people that talk more than they should. Therefore, I think, a big mouth could somehow represents April fools’ day, a day for harmless gossips.
