Steamed Twisted Rolls

This is what we are having for dinner tonight. These are steamed twisted rolls with green onions (葱油花卷) made by hubby as I am not good at handling yeasts. I was really surprised that hubby can make them in such good shapes. They look and taste exactly like those I had in China long time ago. Actually, it has been more than 10 years since last time I had these twisted rolls as it is not typical in my family.

Hotpad from Recycled flyers

Here is another thing I have wanted (to try) for more than 10 years. And I finally did it! I weaved with paper! Tuesday is my most relaxed day in a week, so I managed to weave this simple hotpad with Lidl’s flyer today. It took only 3 pages of flyers. Hubby had been asking me why I kept rolling those flyers during the whole weekend. And, he gives NO comments on the final result. 😛

I have to admit that it is too colorful and it still looks like garbage. Certainly it may look better if I choose newspaper for the cane. But I cannot bear the feeling that much ink from the newspapers would be all over my hands:-(, which is obviously the reason keeping me away from this kind of recycling crafts. I would rather leave it as it is. It just fits our soup pot.

p.s.

I found the blog Great Green Goods when I was searching for similar recycled woven projects this morning. It is very inspiring for recycled crafts.
