Quick pockets

I’ve been cleaning up the apartment in the last few days. The apartment are full of various papers: sketches, course materials, junk mails and many fliers. Some of them have to stay, but simply piling up may not be the good solution. A wall pocket can definitely help. It makes our shelf much more organized.:-)

This is made from one single piece of normal dishcloth. The whole dishcloth is in this wall-pocket, i.e. no scraps left. It actually surprised myself, too. 😀 No wonder such a practical project is just my type. It took only 1.5 hour to make (including cutting, thinking and sewing), however it changed the look of our shelf a lot. I can hardly describe how I am pleased when it is finished. Anyway, I have to share with you how it is made.

Material: 1 piece of dishcloth (50cm x 70 cm), 1 piece of carton from cereal box (27cm x 45 cm)
1. Cut the dishcloth according to the figure on the left. D is the main back piece of the wall-pocket. There are 3 pockets, respectively A, B and C.

2. Fold B, C and D on the dash lines. Sew the edge of D to secure the fold line. There will be two small pockets on the back of D, in which you can insert the cereal carton as a support for the wall-pocket.

3. Sew pocket A onto D first. Then sew pocket B and C onto D together: first the two side edges, and then two bottom separately.

4. Make rings from the last piece of the dishcloth (shadow part) and sew the rings on the top of piece D.

5. Insert the carton, then it’s done.

Isn’t it simple?

By the way, I also made a steaming rack(蒸架) from a peanut can yesterday. I have a rack, but it does not work for the bowl and the pot I wanted to use together. With this new rack, I steamed some radish cakes (萝卜糕) for today’s breakfast. 🙂
