Extra Research Papers Reading

Having been frustrated by almost one thousand slides for final exams, I cannot help adding some extra papers into my reading list (of coz, after all the exams). One of them is from Robert J. Lang I used to mentioned, one of the most famous origami artists. It’s “A computational algorithm for origami design“.

Origami is the first crafting technique I learned when I was young, however it is also the first thing I gave up trying as I realized it was too hard for me to do origami creatively no matter how perfectly I can fold something from a diagram. It is really cool to see academic papers from/for this old art. I may try Robert Lang’s treemaker to make myself something one day.

Someone asked me about the twin cranes I made before. It’s simply a combination of single crane. It’s not from a square paper, but a piece with proportion of 1:2. Besides, you need to make a cut in the center. Check here to see various crane models.

p.s.: I am quite interested in the origami swan Michael made for Katya’s birthday. Gotta ask him about how to make it after the exams. :-)
